Career and Technical Education (CTE) Course Description
The TestOut Routing and Switching Pro certification exam measures the ability to work with Cisco routing and switching devices as an IT professional. For routing, these tasks include IP routing implementation, OSPF routing configuration, access control list configuration, wireless configuration, DHCP server configuration, NAT configuration, router security, and security measure implementation. For switching, tasks include switch setup and configuration, switch Interface Configuration, VLAN configuration, TCP/IP configuration, spanning tree configuration, interVLAN routing, switch security, and EtherChannel configuration.
Students will have the opportunity to showcase their accomplishments by participating in Business Professionals of America (BPA) Competitions. It is a “hand-on” class and much of the work is completed independently. There will also be opportunities in Soft Skills and Work Based Learning.
