About Me

I am happily married to Carrie Carl, who teaches science at our Middle School. We have two children, Kaylie and Ben. We also have a Siberian Husky dog named Kenai.

I formally worked in the business sector in business, finance and technology. In 2001, I went back to school to earn a teaching certificate as I discovered that I enjoyed working with our youth and also helping others. I worked for a couple educational institutions in technology and teaching until acquiring my current position as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Educator in Computer Science, Cybersecurity gn and Finance at Hastings High School.

We love to travel and have been to destinations such as Alaska, Hawaii, Florida, Nevada and all five Great Lakes. Our goal is to get our two children to all 50 states before they move out on their own.

I enjoy anything technology related. I have designed and installed our own security system and video surveillance system for our home.  I designed and installed the first multimedia classroom for my wife at Hastings Middle School, and created computerized home theater systems for our home.  In 2015, I acquired a grant to build and operate an outdoor digital LED sign for our High School building.

I also enjoy helping others with technology, especially with office application solutions to help others with productivity.  Most recently, I initiated public and staff Google Calendars for our district and educational buildings which are linked to our district web site.

We enjoy home improvement projects.  My wife and I gutted and rebuilt an old farm house which later burned to the ground.  We have since rebuilt and have enjoyed landscaping, building a pool house and bridge, and many other home projects both inside and outside our home.

I love a wide genre assortment of music.  I listen to artists such as P!nk, Depeche Mode, Justin Timberlake, Adele, Black Eyed Peas, George Michael, Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Metallica, Gloria Estefan, Nine Inch Nails, Jason Derulo, etc.
