Career and Technical Education (CTE) Course Description
The TestOut Linux Pro Certification measures an examinee's ability to perform tasks commonly performed by IT professionals who work with a version of the Linux operating system. Linux training is beneficial in a variety of environments for a large number of IT careers and job descriptions. Such professionals include network and systems administrators, data center support specialists, senior support specialists, and security specialists. Real-world job tasks include managing hardware and software components, managing networks, managing users and file systems, setting up new systems, and general proficiency with the Linux command line.
Students will have the opportunity to showcase their accomplishments by participating in Business Professionals of America (BPA) Competitions. It is a “hand-on” class and much of the work is completed independently. There will also be opportunities in Soft Skills and Work Based Learning.
