DIG 100:  Digital/Multimedia Design I

Course Description:

This class is for students who want to learn the basics of web technology while working towards professional Web Design Certification. It is a “hand-on” class and much of the work is completed independently. Students will learn web-mastering foundations including a general understanding of computers, how the internet works, the web design process, how to acquire web hosting and publish to it, and other concepts that any web designer should be familiar with. Students will also learn GIMP - graphics software for such tasks as graphics design, photo retouching, and image authoring.  Following that, students will learn basic HTML (web page structure coding) and CSS (web page defined layout) including HTML structure; lists; page layout; styling text; links and site structure. In addition, students will have the opportunity to showcase their accomplishments by participating in BPA (Business Professionals of America) Competitions.
